Description:

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree holder in Actuarial Science
  • Attained professional actuarial qualification equivalent to ASA or close to completion, with minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in group insurance business
  • Previous experience with group health pricing/modelling, forecasting, experience studies, and/or valuation is considered an asset
  • Experience using coding languages such as SQL, Python and/or VBA as well as experience using Alteryx is considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical skill with strong PC skills and knowledge of Excel and Access
  • Good command of both written and spoken English
  • Ability to work independently under pressure

Responsibilities:

The position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Responsible for reviewing and developing key assumptions supporting the actuarial pricing methodology for Global and Local Employee Health Business Lines with oversight from the Regional Actuarial Pricing Manager
  • Conduct pricing reviews of key pricing inputs such as: manual rates, medical trend, IBNP factors and expense factors
  • Review the data for consistency and accuracy, analyze the information, develop conclusions, and communicate those conclusions to Actuarial, Underwriting, and Sales teams.
  • Assist in the product development cycle and the development of premium rates for new product launches
  • Assist in preparing new business tenders for employee benefits, re-rates and client experience reporting
  • Build and Maintain business plan financial projection models and provide senior stakeholders insights into variances from business plan
  • Develop and review actuarial documentations, controls and procedures related to group insurance business
  • Identify issues proactively and alert manager to any issues with significant implications
