Description:

Reporting directly to the Director of Admissions, the Senior Admissions Officer will provide high level support to the Geffen Academy Director of Admissions. The Senior Admissions Officer has specific responsibility for operations, program management, and project management. This position primarily manages the operations of the admissions efforts. This position will maintain applicants’ information and records in a database, audit for data integrity, manage the communication schedule to internal and external constituents, manage the notifications of admissions decisions, assist with the planning and execution of admissions events throughout the year, and manage the flow of information and reports in the office. This position has responsibility for managing all aspects of the candidate application process which includes maintenance of every candidate file and the assembly of applicant information for review by the program staff, and scheduling interviews and conducting interviews. This individual will oversee the gathering of information, pre-screening and pre-qualifying potential students to ensure an efficient admission process. The Senior Admissions Officer will provide insight and guidance to the Director of Admissions as it relates to preliminary decision recommendations. The individual will perform a wide variety of administrative tasks with a high degree of efficiency, confidence, and poise. The Senior Admissions Officer will perform data analytics for the department. The Senior Admissions Officer will also evaluate the eligibility of applicant families for tuition assistance, update family eligibility for tuition assistance on a year by year basis, communicate with families regarding tuition assistance matters, and respond to short term-notice alterations in family financial circumstances as necessary. Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, the Senior Admissions Officer will manage the program’s annual budget, create reports, and be the center point of contact and administrator for the financial aid software. The candidate will be the departments’ data analyst and tuition assistance analyst, tasked with creating financial aid models and reconciling back to the general ledger.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years experience directly related to admissions (Required)
  • Experience working with diverse populations (Required)
  • Ability to make excellent decisions, extremely detail oriented, highly organized, and strong interpersonal skills. (Required)
  • Ability to work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and priorities (Required)
  • Knowledge of strategic recruitment process and the matriculation of prospective students and enrollment management (Required)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, goal driven environment (Required)
  • Outstanding insight and analytical skills to discern among candidates in highly talented applicant pool (Required)
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours during peak recruitment and evaluation seasons, including nights and weekends as needed (Required)
  • Exceptional writing skills, including experience in writing formal means of business communication, and strong public speaking skills (Required)
  • Ability to manage departmental budget and interface with program and school leadership on business matters (Required)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products (Required)
  • Experience using a enrollment management system, customer relationship management and data system (Required)

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & PERSONAL AFFILIATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communications or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Communications or closely related field (Preferred)
