About the role
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Senior Health and Safety Advisor plays an integral part in our operations and act as role models in the field alongside our workforce to promote the effective application of all health, safety and training programs.
In your day to day, you will assist with ongoing safety and education working with our amazing team on site to really drive positive safety outcomes and initiatives. You will be responsible for promoting awareness of Health and Safety Practices and reporting incidents.

You will coordinate day-to-day health and safety activities and implement health and safety programs. Success will be achieved by effective collaboration and applying your knowledge through influence and mentoring.
You will champion HSET best practice across the business and site and help further develop Health and Safety Advisor’s capabilities as well as partner closely with line management to ensure they deliver to their safety accountabilities.
Responsibilities as a member of our close-knit team will also include:
Development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the Tritton Safety Management System to ensure compliance with legislation.
Training, guidance and coaching to management, supervisors, and workers to ensure an understanding of the SMS to facilitate safe work practices at PGM.
Identification and analysis (bowties) of critical risks and the development of controls (PHMP’s, PCP’s).
Development, implementation, and review of documentation supporting PHMP’s and PCP’s.
Providing support, guidance and coaching to department safety advisors.
Facilitate and support the site risk management process including risk identification, risk assessment and implementation of risk treatment aligned with the hierarchy of controls.
Advises and assists on the implementation of the site Emergency Response Team structure including ERP, training / exercises, testing / maintenance of live saving equipment and medical / mutual aid services
Supports the Incident Management process including facilitation of investigations and support for case / injury management as required.
Supervise and verify the completion of the annual plan for health and hygiene monitoring / surveillance.
Attend and assist leadership in the daily pre-start meetings and weekly site safety meetings.
Drive reviews and updates of site Document Management systems
Support and verify the effective implementation of the site hazard reporting tools and leadership assurance including Visual Safety Leadership Interactions, Task Observations, Workplace inspections and Audits.
Provide regular feedback to site leadership on HSEC programs and initiatives including JSEA’s, and leading indicators.
Utilises INX systems (InControl, Pegasus as the corporate tool and repository for HSEC reporting, verification of competency and training package delivery respectively
Assist with Alcohol and Other Drugs testing regime.

About You

  • Significant experience in a similar role within an underground mining environment
  • Degree qualifications and/or Certificate IV in WHS
  • Strong understanding of, and experience in, incident investigations, risk assessments, emergency response and injury management
  • Exceptional experience in WHS Management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and listening
  • A strong ability to build credible relationships with stakeholders, coupled with the ability to influence positive decision making around safety practices
  • Australian driver’s license

The Operation
Tritton Copper Operations is a long life copper operation located near the towns of Nyngan and Cobar in central New South Wales that commenced production in 2005. One hundred percent owned and operated by Aeris Resources, Tritton forms the cornerstone of Aeris copper production.
Tritton comprises an underground mining complex feeding a 1.8 million tonne per annum conventional processing plant. Copper concentrate produced at the operation is railed to the Port of Newcastle for export to customers internationally. The current mine plan for Tritton extends to FY2030.
