The Position: We are looking for a Senior Healthcare Actuarial Analyst interested in growing their expertise in a mission-driven environment, while working on key projects with internal and external stakeholders. This exciting role will provide you with an opportunity to support a dedicated client project team providing Medicaid specific services, while sharpening your business and actuarial acumen. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with clients and participate in the many components of supporting a new business.
In the Senior Healthcare Actuarial Analyst role, you will take ownership of your work product and work closely with analysts and lead actuaries to effectively report on and present actuarial information. In this role, you will hone your ability to manage your own workflow, ask the right questions, and demonstrate your desire to go above and beyond to serve clients.
This is a paid, salaried position.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ideal candidates have 3 - 5 years of experience
  • Working towards ASA or FSA
  • Experience in actuarial services through work experience
  • Creative problem-solving skills to identify flexible solutions to business questions
  • Insatiable curiosity and interest in learning new things
  • Demonstrated commitment to Athena’s mission, vision, and values
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Experience in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word

Responsibilities:

  • Research and gather information
  • Model health data utilizing Excel and SAS
  • Review analyst work on actuarial models
  • Develop team members’ skillsets in modeling and health pricing
  • Communicate proactively with team members to remove roadblocks and ensure timely completion of projects
  • Participate in Athena strategy and community initiatives
  • Demonstrate exemplary level of personal and professional integrity, and ability to support and promote Athena’s mission and values
    Location: This position is remote, with those located in Minneapolis having the option to work at Athena’s headquarters. Depending on the state of travel due to the pandemic, 2-4 opportunities to travel to other Athena hub cities for team building and in-person work weeks per year may be requested but not necessarily required.
