SUMMARY

We are looking for a driven, motivated team player to join our infrastructure team. A strong IT professional who can analyze, monitor, improve and resolve system issues. The primary role would be to administer the company’s network and maintain, optimize, and monitor Windows\Linux systems on prem and in the cloud. Other responsibilities would include improving processes, writing\updating documentation, standardizing processes, taking lead on project work, leading by example, and providing 3rd level IT support for colleagues.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in a related discipline would be an asset. (e.g., B.Eng. B.Sc., etc.)
  • 8+ years’ experience in systems infrastructure.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Platforms and Technologies including Window Server, Hyper-V, and Databases.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Linux/Unix Platforms and Technologies.
  • Strong technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure as a service. (Azure preferred)
  • Strong technical knowledge of Networking principles.
  • Knowledge of Aruba systems would be an asset.
  • Technical knowledge of networking in cloud services platforms. (Azure)
  • Strong working knowledge of Bash/Powershell scripts.
  • Experience configuring/deploying/managing intune.
  • Experience in system backups, including SQL, Veeam, Windows/Linux on prem, and in cloud.
  • Experience in system inventory, monitoring, and patching.
  • Experience in disaster recovery.
  • Experience with a helpdesk support tool.
  • Technical knowledge of HP servers/SAN would be an asset.
  • Experience with Active directory administration on prem and in the cloud (Azure)
  • Experience with Office 365 tenant administration.
  • Experience in delivering IT development projects, system implementation and business support.
  • Experience in multiple implementation phases; system selection, design, development, testing, and support.
  • Strong creative thinking/problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This position requires that the applicant be able to use a computer, and some potential heavy lifting.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and maintain new server systems on prem and in cloud.
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network and server systems on prem and in cloud.
  • Managing, monitoring, optimizing Hyper-V clusters.
  • Monitoring, maintaining multi-shelf SAN storage solutions.
  • Ensure regular security patching of servers/network hardware monthly.
  • Deploy, install, and support IT hardware/software.
  • Participate in architectural and configuration discussions.
  • Monitor, document and report on system utilization and capacity.
  • Diagnose and provide solutions to recurring issues.
  • Implement changes that will optimize existing hardware and network resources.
  • Provide escalation support for IT Helpdesk.
  • Take ownership of and lead solutioning with third party support.
  • Co-ordinate with equipment and software vendors.
  • Create and maintain documentation.
  • Train support staff in new technologies.
  • Take part in on-call support rotation.
  • Manage remote site ISP and network connectivity.
  • Other related tasks and duties as assigned.
