Responsibilities:
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:
- Practical experience applying design and problem-solving to a range of business technology scenarios such as integration and consolidation, product and feature launch, incident management, and the application of data analytics and machine learning to business operations.
- You will have deep expertise in one or more Technology Stacks that Westpac use
- You are a long-term thinker, with a background in systems design, exposure to multiple architecture approaches, able to employ a variety of structured problem-solving techniques.
- You demonstrate interest in continuous learning and the application of value-generating technology across design, planning, technology selection, hosting & operations.
- You can navigate the trade-offs involved with adopting new technology vs. owning established technology that delivers quantifiable value.
- Comprehensive regard for scale, high-availability and performance - as well as the ability to influence Westpac at all levels (from board to codebase) - toward the adoption and maintenance of Westpac’s industry leadership in technology.
- You have experience with and appreciation for effective ownership and co-ordination models such as Single-Threaded Ownership, platform/framework teams, DevOps, Communities of Practice, and Tiger teams.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement (either directly or through coaching and collaboration with team mates) key architecture patterns such as integrated micro front-ends, scalable technology platform services, cloud-native software (ranging through to serverless elements).
- Develop, communicate and drive adoption of reference architecture, framework and implementation of distributed applications and services that are optimised for operation within Westpac’s distributed mesh environment.
- Function as an individual contributor, embedded in one or more outcome-aligned cross-functional teams. Act as a trusted advisor to business management, as well as a proactive representative of your teams.
- Guide and drive the re-factoring of Westpac’s applications into cost-efficient sources of business value
