Description:
NI Application Engineers ensure customer success at accounts by demonstrating the highest technical aptitude and professional engineering skills. They provide innovative solutions and deliver projects while becoming trusted technical partners for NI’s customers.
This is a role that demands deep domain knowledge and understanding of the industry. Learning about and solving customers’ application needs requires strong personal drive, can-do attitude, and innovative thinking.
Applications Engineering is a highly collaborative role, working with business owners in Sales, the Business Units, Product Planning, Product R&D, and Marketing to drive account growth and proactively invest in new offerings and applications.
It is the ideal career for engineers who like to innovate and enjoy working with customers in a technical role while continuing to grow as technical and business leaders.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor or higher degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math);
- Understanding of the Automotive Industry globally and in EMEA
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in one of the areas :
Test and measurement systems in production area – e.g. with ADAS sensors, Domain Control Unit, Zonal Control Unit, Battery Management Systems, Inverters, Body Computer
- Experience programming in a high-level programming language
- Experience with test system design and development (hardware and software)
- Availability to travel and work on customer’s sites up to 10% of time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in customer-facing roles
- Experience with sensors & signals, electronics, circuit design, and computer architectures and operating systems (Windows, Linux, Real-Time OS)
- Proficiency in any of the following development and software tools: LabVIEW, VeriStand, TestStand, ECUTS, VCOM, Python, C/C++/C#, Vector CAN tools
- Experience in common automotive test engineering technologies: networking (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet), rest bus simulation, diagnostic, etc.;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team-orientation and collaborative mindset
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment, managing multiple simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German to effectively manage relationships with customers on engineering and management level
Responsibilities:
- Building key technical relationships at target accounts by demonstrating great technical credibility that increases customer technical confidence in NI
- Understanding and assisting in creation of customer technical requirements
- Providing recommendations on software and hardware architectures while helping customers understand the test system development process to ensure success
- Executing consultations, demonstrations, proof of concepts, to mitigate technical project risks and advance opportunities
- Proactively collaborating with sales organization to lead development and execution of account technical strategies which provides better insight to the overall account strategy and opportunity pipeline
- Leveraging industry, application, and account knowledge to uncover and influence customer future technical needs and challenges thereby generating further technical demand for NI products, services, and support
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to execute on account technical initiatives
- Collaborating with strategy and product owners to proactively invest in targeted application areas, providing feedback to influencers throughout the company to increase customer satisfaction and the NI application offerings success
- Collaborating with the business units, services, and customers in an early access program to successfully roll out new application offerings and adopt them to the specific customer’s needs.
- Contributing to the definition, development, and maintenance of application demo systems that are used in our engineering labs for advanced demonstrations and feasibility studies
- Creation of technical content including articles, whitepapers, application notes for internal and external use and presentation at professional conferences
