The Senior Associate role in the Energy team plays a key role in various energy market modelling, energy industry research and analysis, and financial and commercial advisory activities to support delivery of client and government policy outcomes, working across a variety of projects.
The Energy team is part of the Government-Owned Corporations (GOC) portfolio, which collaborates with GOC clients and Central Agencies to deliver exceptional outcomes. Your work in the energy sector and energy transition will directly contribute to better financial sustainability, risk management and financial and economic outcomes for your clients, stakeholders and Queensland.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. mathematics, electrical engineering, science, economics, finance.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- 3 to 8 years employment experience in roles that demonstrate overall competency. Role will be tailored to reflect experience of successful candidate.
- Experience in areas such as energy market modelling, data analytics, energy economics, energy industry corporate finance and advisory.
- Critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively diagnose situations and develop creative solutions.
- Excellent report writing, quantitative analysis and PowerPoint skills.
- Engaging and persuasive communication style.
Desirable
- Familiarity with coding, particular Python, R.
- Familiarity with and prior work in energy industry.
- Familiarity with energy market modelling (e.g., PLEXOS or similar tools).
Responsibilities:
- Strong understanding and use of problem solving and analytical techniques, delivered with high attention to detail.
- Deliver strategic, commercial and evidence-based advice, based on creative and rigorous quantitative modelling and problem solving, to internal and external stakeholders regarding a wide variety of energy industry issues. In doing so, employ tailored communication – verbal and written – to stakeholders.
- Take a lead role in self and team development, demonstrating progression of development and willingness to take on stretch opportunities.
