Mō te tūranga | About the role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Associate / Associate Director to join our Debt Capital Markets & Syndicate team, where you will be responsible for advising and executing a broad range of transactions for clients in the domestic and offshore capital markets.
Expertise in financial markets, quantitative analysis, and an understanding of international markets and global economics will be crucial for the role. Day-to-day responsibilities will be comprised of:

  • Assist in the origination and execution of debt capital markets transactions, including conducting in-depth market research to identify potential debt issuance opportunities and trends.
  • Leading and supporting deal execution by means of direct involvement in the deal team.
  • Responsible for the development and production of comprehensive presentations, pitch-books, RFP’s and other written material as required.
  • Monitor and report on market developments and provide timely and accurate advice to clients.
  • Manage multiple, competing priorities while working on a number of opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the wider domestic and global Westpac Financial Markets teams to structure and execute debt transactions, ensuring alignment with client objectives and market conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory authorities, audit requirements and established bank approved risk limits.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Ideally 5-10+ years relevant experience within Financial Markets.
  • Strong knowledge of the New Zealand and Australian debt capital markets, with a working knowledge of other offshore markets.
  • Expertise in international credit/rates markets and global economics.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg. Transaction/financial modelling skills also beneficial.
  • Exhibit strong work ethic, attention to detail and passion for excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact and build strong relationships with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other lines of business.
  • Ability to produce high quality and professional written material.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to clients on debt issuance strategies and markets. Team player with positive attitude and demonstrated leadership skills.
