The Senior Associate Benefits Professional collects, compiles, verifies, and analyzes claims data from our self-insured medical program so senior management has accurate and timely information for making strategic and operational decisions. The Senior Associate Benefits Professional work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Typical responsibilities include

Analyzes the financial implications claims data or other transactions so that senior managers can evaluate experience against the organization’s budget. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed.

  • Evaluates industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization’s short, medium, and long-term financial position.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of how changes to our benefits programs or business changes influence GAAP/non-GAAP financials
  • Overall understanding of accrual accounting and how entries are booked or accrued in the correct accounting period.
  • Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas.
  • Analyzes revenues, expenses, costs, prices, membership, and other key provider metrics.
  • May involve financial modeling, reporting, and dashboarding as well. Begins to influence department’s strategy.
  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
  • Essential experience and foundations for this role: management level summaries, financial planning and analysis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in finance/accounting

WORK-AT-HOME REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense. A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required. Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role. A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
