ABOUT THE ROLE

Our team that focuses on medical indemnity insurance matters is growing and we have an opportunity for a Senior Associate to join the team to provide our General Insurance clients with relevant legal advice regarding medical indemnity and health law litigation and inquiries.

• Managing medical negligence litigation as part of a team including attending formal mediations and informal settlement conferences
• Managing Coronial inquiries and disciplinary proceedings as against health entities and individual practitioners
• Providing advice to insurers on cover, predominantly professional indemnity and medical indemnity insurance
• Reviewing medical and health records
• Preparing briefs for Counsel and expert witnesses
• Drafting court documents, settlement deeds and Medical Panel referrals
• Preparing advice including on indemnity, liability, prospects, quantum, reserves and strategy
• Researching and providing legal analysis
• Assisting with preparation and presenting on matters related to medical indemnity and health law litigation.
• Coaching and mentoring junior lawyers, graduates and seasonal clerks
• Retaining and building business
