Description:

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Qualified solicitor with at least 5 PQE in either contentious or non contentious construction law.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and industry standards and practices.
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address legal issues effectively.
Experience in dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively.
Commercial awareness and understanding of clients’ business objectives and commercial considerations.
Attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation and research.
Membership in relevant professional bodies or associations preferred.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on legal developments in construction law and industry trends.

Responsibilities:

Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients on a wide range of construction law matters, including contract negotiation, project procurement, and dispute resolution.
Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, including building contracts, consultant appointments, collateral warranties, and construction-related agreements.
Advise clients on legal and regulatory requirements affecting construction projects
Identify and assess legal risks associated with construction projects, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and protect clients’ interests.
Assist clients in resolving disputes arising from construction projects, including claims for defects, delay, variations, and payment disputes, through negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration, or litigation.
Conduct legal research and analysis to support client matters, staying abreast of developments in construction law, case law, and industry best practices.
Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders involved in construction projects, maintaining clear and professional communication throughout.
Manage client relationships, providing regular updates, managing expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction.
Collaborate with colleagues within the firm, including partners, associates, and support staff, to leverage resources and expertise in handling complex construction matters.
Participate in business development activities, including networking, client seminars, and marketing initiatives to attract new clients and grow the firm’s construction law practice.
