The firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate/Special Counsel with expertise in Renewable Energy Construction Law to join their dynamic team in Brisbane or Sydney. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years of post-admission experience in construction law, with a focus on renewable energy projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, with a strong understanding of industry-specific issues and challenges.
  • Experience advising clients on regulatory compliance matters and permitting requirements related to renewable energy development.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex construction projects, including dispute resolution and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong commitment to client service, with a proactive approach to meeting client needs and exceeding expectations.
  • Membership in relevant professional associations and industry groups preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides expert legal advice and support to clients on all aspects of renewable energy construction projects, including drafting and negotiating construction contracts, procurement agreements, and project documentation.
  • Advises clients on regulatory compliance and permitting requirements related to renewable energy projects, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conducts due diligence reviews and risk assessments for renewable energy projects, identifying potential legal issues and recommending strategies for mitigation.
  • Collaborates with a client’s cross-functional teams including project managers, engineers, and environmental consultants to facilitate the successful execution of renewable energy construction projects.
  • Provides direction to the Dispute Resolution team to ensure that clients are effectively represented in negotiations, mediations, and dispute resolution proceedings related to construction contracts and project development.
  • Stays abreast of industry developments, emerging trends, and best practices in renewable energy construction law, providing thought leadership and strategic guidance to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Drafts and reviews construction-related agreements, including EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and supply agreements, ensuring alignment with client objectives and industry standards.
  • Provides training and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional development and enhancing the overall capabilities of the practice group.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with clients, industry associations, and regulatory bodies, positioning the firm as a trusted advisor in the renewable energy sector.
  • Supports business development initiatives by identifying opportunities for new client engagements, preparing proposals and pitch materials, and participating in client meetings and presentations.
  • Contributes to thought leadership activities such as writing articles, delivering presentations, and participating in industry conferences and seminars to raise the firm’s profile in the renewable energy sector.
