Cordelio has more than 1,400 MW of renewable power assets under management in Canada and the United States, and a growth pipeline of over 22,000 MW of wind, solar and storage projects.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Cordelio is looking for a Senior Associate, Tax with a passion for finance and tax to join our team. Reporting to the Vice President, Tax, the ideal candidate is someone who works well in a team environment and independently. A self-starter with an enthusiasm for learning, the Senior Associate, Tax will be part of a fast-paced, dynamic and collaborative team, and will act as a partner supporting day-to-day operations of the Tax team initiatives and Cordelio’s business operations in Canada and the the U.S.
Cordelio will consider candidates without industry experience interested in engaging in the rapidly evolving renewable energy industry as well as candidates currently employed at a manager level (titling will be determined by Cordelio and depends upon experience).
This position is based out of Toronto, Canada with a hybrid work arrangement.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Two to three years of progressive accounting and tax experience.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent, U.S. CPA is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. taxation is considered an asset.
  • Previous exposure to complex accounting and tax structures, U.S. GAAP/IFRS is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or business related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience in preparation of corporate tax returns, income tax provision(s) and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and other MSOffice applications.
  • Experience with NetSuite is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional technical and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 10% primarily domestically (U.S. and Canada). Includes travel primarily to remote project locations as well as occasionally to company facilities and technical conferences.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within the tax function to assist in Canadian and U.S. income tax accounting and related tax compliance processes.
  • Prepare working papers for quarterly and annual tax provisions and support the external audit.
  • Prepare working papers to determine transfer pricing charges to related parties.
  • Assist with inter-copy account(s) reconciliation.
  • Prepare indirect tax filings and reconcile tax liability accounts.
  • Assist with working papers to prepare tax returns in Canada and the U.S.
  • Assist with the integration of potential merger and acquisition activities.
  • Prepare and file 1099 and 1042 forms.
  • Research, analyze and present findings on various tax matters to teams within the finance organization.
  • Assist with process improvements by building efficiencies through automation.
  • Assist with project work dependent upon business initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of current CRA, IRS, state and local tax rules and regulations ensuring full compliance.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and ability to bring order to unstructured matters.
