Senior Automation Analyst
Salary: London from £56,400 to £65,000

The team/department
As part of our commitment to deliver the Digital Unified Intelligence Environment (DUIE), the Digital Intelligence Solutions (DIS) department is forming a team called “Enabling Intelligent Automation”, responsible for the effective rollout of the Decision Hub 2.0 service that pioneers the use of automation in our response to information, intelligence and data from a variety of sources.
The successful candidate will join the current team to work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the FCA to and be responsible for automation implementation from understanding current processes, designing improvements and leading the build using bespoke development tools.
DIS is a department within the Intelligence & Digital (I&D) directorate as part of the wider Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) division.

What you will be doing (the role)

  • Promote and seek out automation opportunities by listening and understanding how colleagues across the entire FCA are using intelligence and data in their day-to-day functions
  • Design and author automations or computational business rules using IBM Business Automation Manager, identifying and resolving data connection or modelling issues when they arise
  • Collaborating with a network of intelligence/data analysts, scientists and developers across the FCA to explore innovative ideas to use existing datasets or to surface new ones
  • Coordinate the release of new automations with stakeholders, ensuring the appropriate level of testing and governance approval is obtained to provide the seamless transition to business as usual (BAU)

The skills and experience you will have
Minimum Criteria

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to listen, understand and work with SMEs to document existing business processes/how decisions are made across the organisation
  • Strong analytics skills to identify and resolve the root cause of complex data issues

Essential Criteria

  • Proficiency in IBM Business Automation Manager/Business Central or similar platforms to design and author automations using BPMN and/or DMN Or proficiency in implementing or using dataflows between different systems, such as AWS EDP & ECS, Apigee and Salesforce
  • Substantial experience of leading data analytics projects that deliver to time, budget and specification that brings about positive organisational change
  • Data engineering experience to design and model data ingestion, ensuring adherence to data quality standards and is interoperable with other datasets
  • Highly effective communication skills to work closely with colleagues of all levels and across disciplines, especially to deal with resistance that may arise from change management with empathy and sensitivity
  • Outstanding organisation skills to balance and coordinate between multiple projects with different stakeholders effectively
  • Has a curious mindset to question and enthuse stakeholders with improvement recommendations to default data or business processes
  • Willingness to learn, as well as support the development of both junior and senior colleagues in the team
