Essential:

• 5+ years of experience in back-end engineering roles
• Proficiency in Python and fluent in some *nix flavour.
• Strong understanding of data management, APIs, and infrastructure, with the ability to architect scalable solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly, with a passion for crafting readable, well-tested code.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Back End Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our technical ecosystem, providing expertise and technical direction to deliver high-impact projects. Working closely with a talented team of engineers, product managers, data scientists, and solution architects, you’ll tackle complex challenges in data and infrastructure, contributing to the success of major initiatives to help us deliver quality as a business.
We’re looking for someone with strong technical skills who can take ownership and accountability for significant projects. Your day might range from designing and building APIs to optimising database queries, to researching new platforms for user authentication. You’ll act as a problem solver and work directly with the Director of Engineering to come up with solutions. This role is ideal for someone who is excited by complex, challenging technical problems and the chance to work with highly experienced and talented engineers to help them grow and develop in the next step of their careers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical guidance on back-end development projects and take ownership of key deliverables.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Collaborate on tasks effectively, leveraging the strengths of team members and fostering a collaborative working environment.
• Act as a mentor, providing guidance and support to junior engineers, fostering their growth and development within the organisation.
