Description:

SUMMARY

Responsible for the research and recommendations on future technology applications, support initiatives, selection, development, and implementation of current and future applications, and ensure process and application changes align with user needs for all Finance groups.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems Business Administration, Business Computer Systems, or related field; and,
  • Four (4) years’ experience in application administration, computer programming, data management, information systems, or related field; and,
  • Business Management and/or Analytics Professional Certification or ability to achieve certification within twelve (12) months of employment,

OR

  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

  • Environment: Works in an office setting office; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES

  • Act a lead facilitator for projects and process development for all aspects of the assigned systems and lead technical resource to division; collaborate with Technology Services on back-end system changes.
  • Lead the technical assessment of new technologies ensuring user-system requirements, technical developments, capabilities of proposed systems and external interface requirements align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple business units to identify end-user needs; analyze ERP needs, evaluate, and propose possible solutions.
  • Provide recommendations on new technologies; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the design, development, installation, and implementation of new or upgraded Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and finance-related systems.
  • Develop change-management process(es) for the transition to and optimization of future-state system configuration including work plans with procedures, schedules, and time frame elements; prepare implementation strategies, create test scenarios to test user system installations and upgrades; recommend improvements based on testing issues.
  • Review, create, maintain, administer, and monitor standard operating procedures, work plans, performance standards and goals, and activities to ensure department/division objectives are achieved; notify leader when data trends do not support identified and/or expected outcomes.
  • Ensure projects deliver the end-user needs and benefits outlined in business case through identifying requirements, setting objectives, goals and timetables, monitors, and evaluates the quality, accuracy, and outcome of work.
  • Work directly with internal and external stakeholders on software purchases as well as support and maintenance contracts.
  • Stay up to date on current and proposed technology issues and concerns; provide recommendations on potential solutions to meet expectations and forecasted requirements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to articulate future technology proposals that provide data-driven analysis of long-term costs and benefits to the City of Denton associated with new technology.
