As Senior Business Development Manager you will be responsible for identify acquisition, development, and licensing opportunities. Being in a leading role in contributing to and supporting global deals by seeking, evaluating, recommending, and structuring/negotiating relevant deals to create value-accretive opportunities.

Your role

  • Co-lead alignment with R&D and commercial teams regarding strategic priority targets for partnering.
  • Identify BD and M&A opportunities as part of the broader BD and M&A team.
  • Develop portfolio gap analyses in close collaboration with R&D and commercial teams and maximize through licensing and acquisitions.
  • Participate in and co-lead due diligences, build network of contacts, oversee evaluation of partnerships/licensing opportunities at multiple levels
  • Support negotiations, structuring of transactions, and take part in drafting of contracts
  • Lead or co-lead and take part in drafting contracts (e.g. in-license deals, out-license, JV, acquisition, divestments, etc.).
  • Co-lead in managing stakeholders, present to internal leadership teams and drive internal consensus on opportunities
  • Support formal governance process to seek and obtain approval for appropriate deal opportunities and adhere to internal BD and M&A review process to ensure quality and consistency of the evaluation of all BD and M&A activities in accordance with process guidelines
  • Serve as an emerging global BD expert inside and outside LEO Pharma
  • Represent BD function by actively participating in internal events and in external events within the BD and scientific communities (industry conferences, Partnering conferences, etc)
  • Build (and maintain) network of external contacts within the Biotechnology and finance community
  • Co-lead internal and external communications
  • Leverage existing key contacts to generate new opportunities
  • Manage BD and M&A projects

Your qualifications

To succeed in this role, we imagine that you have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree (ie. MSc) in Business or Scientific discipline an advantage
  • 4+ years’ of experience in onfrom the investment side, investment banking or fromin pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry in BD roles of increasing responsibility within pre-clinical and/or clinical stage business development; experience in medical dermatology not a requirement
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical development, regulatory, commercialization and business practices to successfully bring drugs to market an advantage.
  • Experience in identifying and evaluating pharmaceutical or biotech products for potential licensing/acquisition, and participating in negotiations an advantage.
  • Previous experience interacting and presenting to Senior Leadership an advantage.
  • Rapidly embraces and applies new ideas and approaches
  • Self-starter who is able to effectively lead multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills to strengthen business relationships
  • Strong business acumen and analytic and quantitative skills
  • Highly collaborative - demonstrates team and resource management skills, including the ability to manage team dynamics across companies.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams
