What’s the role?
As a Senior C++ Software & Systems Engineer you will be part of the team responsible for developing our on-site control system, interfacing our cloud platform to physical energy generation and storage assets on sites across the globe. Reporting to the Principal Engineer in the Hardware team you will help develop software for, configure and maintain the platform.

You will:

  • Develop and remotely maintain the software running on our on-site control systems
  • Interface to new 3rd party control systems and sensors as required
  • Work with counterparties to agree interface specifications
  • Develop new feature specifications in collaboration with the Product team
  • Maintain and improve code quality, including unit testing
  • Support software builds for simulation environmentsDevelop and support in-house testing software tools

  • Who are you?

  • You have a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or are able to demonstrate equivalent workplace experience.
  • You’re a C++ developer with 3+ years of commercial experience in industrial control systems
  • You have knowledge of industrial communications protocols, for example Modbus, OPC UA, DNP3 and IEC104
  • You have experience developing control algorithms for production systems
  • You’re familiar with developing code for Real-Time Operating Systems ideally with experience of VxWorks7
  • You have experience using revision control systems, for example Git
  • You’re familiar with build automation tools
  • You’re comfortable working on both Linux and Windows platforms
  • Experience with Gtk would be an advantage
  • You’re highly organised and adaptable team player with a passion for solving problems pragmatically and collaboratively
  • You have strong communication and both internal and external stakeholder management abilities
  • You have excellent literacy and numeracy skillsYou’re passionate about the energy industry
