ABOUT THE HERMITAGE CLINIC

The Hermitage Clinic is a 112 bed private hospital in Lucan, West Dublin. Our specialised medical teams provide medical, surgical and advanced radiotherapy care to patients and are supported by the very latest medical technology. The Hermitage Clinic is committed to providing excellence in patient care using state-of-the-art facilities. The Clinic offers an outstanding level of expertise and cutting edge technology. We have the most advanced diagnostic imaging equipment available today, full Cardiological facilities including a Cardiac Catheterisation Suite and Clinical Laboratory services
We currently have two positions available, one full time permanent and one full time contract to cover Maternity Leave.
The role is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with standards of Cardiology nursing practice. As a key member of the frontline team, the Cardiac Physiologist will demonstrate professional competency, team working skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital.

Learning and Education

  • Contribute to the requirements of professional practice
  • Take personal responsibility for own professional development and keep up to date with evidence based practice and research.
  • Attend and participate in staff development programmes on an ongoing basis and sharing knowledge with other staff members.
  • Assist with the orientation and induction of new staff and be available to provide orientation as deemed necessary, helping them to integrate as members of the Unit team.
  • Assist in the training of staff in the department.
  • Identify and inform the Learning and Education Team of any training and professional development requirements.
  • Attend all mandatory training days and ensure that all mandatary training is in date.
  • Comply with all HR system and policy requirements

Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Participate in the efficient and effective delivery of Services for the Hermitage Clinic.
  • Ensure the safe delivery and co-ordination of services for patients, ensuring effective, efficient and quality service.
  • Perform and interpret ECG and Stress tests while demonstrating competence in BP monitoring and analysis and holter monitoring and analysis and understanding of pacemakers, defibrillators and echocardiography.
  • To have a good knowledge of the procedures in the Catheterisation Laboratory and to participate in procedures (initially under supervision of Senior Physiologist)
  • To be responsible for accurate storage and filing of clinical reports
  • To be responsible for the careful use and cleanliness of equipment used by him/her
  • Contribute to the planning, development and monitoring of human and budget resource plans to ensure an effective and efficient service.
  • Receive and record details concerning mishaps, complaints and defects in supplies and equipment, investigate the circumstances with appropriate team members and take the necessary actions and report the findings as required, and as determined by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Ensure that services are based on the latest research findings and constitute best practice.
  • Ensure that all records are properly and accurately maintained.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and multi-disciplinary team as necessary ensuring patient confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with Medical Consultants, Clinical Nurse Managers and other relevant hospital staff to ensure safe, efficient management of the Department.
  • Identify opportunities for the development of services that will improve the care of patients.
  • Ensure that systems for the provision of services are satisfactory and that they are timely and economically utilised.
  • Contribute to an annual review of services including the preparation of an annual report.
  • Ensure that all staff within the Department are familiar with the plan for management of critical incidents and that the Department is ready to meet such a demand.

Quality Improvement & Risk Management

  • Ensure that there is compliance with all relevant Hermitage Clinic guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. This includes responsibility for dealing with regulatory or professional bodies and inspections.
  • Encourage continuous review and evaluation of policies, guidelines and existing practices through regular audit programmes and review engaging with the multi-disciplinary team where required.
  • Contribute to promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department involving the team in continuous improvement initiatives and encouraging innovation.
  • Contribute to the setting and monitoring of core objectives, standards and key performance indicators for the service and monitor performance against these standards through internal and (where applicable) external audit.
  • Participate in the requirements of the hospitals accreditation process.
  • Participate in the requirements of the hospital’s risk management programme.
  • Promote the delivery of a high standard of care to all patients. Encourage evidence-based practice and assist in the dissemination and implementation of research findings.
  • Work with members of the Multidisciplinary team in devising Standard Operating Procedures for the development of the Unit.
  • Provide leadership in proactively addressing ethical and quality of service issues with multidisciplinary team members and hospital management.
  • Contribute to the development of a culture of safety, promoting positive reporting of incidents and near misses; investigate and take remedial action on incidents or near misses involving patients and staff according to hospital policies, protocols and guidelines.
