EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field preferred. Other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
EXPERIENCE:
- Ten years of experience or more preferred in category management, convenience store merchandising, operations, or related retail industry; including five years management experience.
Knowledge and skills:
- Relationship management, acute ability to influence, financial acumen and analytical skills are required.
- Must be able to work independently or collaboratively, in a fast paced, frequently changing business environment.
- Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
Manages the confectionary category at the regional level, for a large geographical region. Further directs merchandising plans and operational processes to achieve financial objectives, following the National level directives. Utilizes sales, research, and current trend analytics to develop strategy for categories and optimize product assortments as required by the business units. Supervises the warehousing and distribution of some products and services. Increases sales and gross profit by selecting business unit specific suppliers, evaluating new products/services, negotiating pricing, planning marketing and merchandising strategies. Supports the regional Merchandising Managers. The Confectionery Category Senior Manager should foster an environment that welcomes change and that promotes high levels of ingenuity and creative thinking, risk tolerance, and collaboration, growing revenue and margin for all categories.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Supports National category strategy.
- Establishes national and regional assortments with NA strategic alignment. Study industry and category trends to support this planning and development process.
- Owns planogramming process and development.
- Delivers local assortment in planograms through business unit feedback.
- Establishes local promotions.
- Supports annual category review planning and presentation, assisting at the business unit level as necessary.
- Analyzes financial results of the category and provides actionable feedback to the business units.
- Increases professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications; establishing personal networks; or participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company plan guidelines.
