We are looking for a driven and passionate Highway/Roadway Designer with at least 10 years of experience to support our growing transportation team in Western Canada. You will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects and utilize your transportation design expertise (roadway, drainage, and sitework layout, preliminary and final design, utility/coordination and client coordination) to serve as a lead designer and task manager on transportation related projects..
You’ll be part of diverse multi-discipline teams in the delivery of transportation planning and design, and highway design projects. Your leadership ability will give you the opportunity to lead tasks and/or projects and interface directly with our clients. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in delivering civil /transportation designs including roadway and intersection design, buried utilities and services, and site grading projects.
  • Alberta Transportation and Local Public Agency (LPA) project experience ie, City of Calgary, City of Edmonton, BCMOTI etc
  • Demonstrated experience on various types of roadway design projects including design and plan development of new and rehabilitation highway projects
  • Strong proficiency with of Civil 3D and Autocad
  • Understanding of and practical experience applying the TAC and Local Public Agency design guidelines to transportation projects.

Ideally, here’s what else you’ll also have:

  • Some task lead experience managing design workflows
  • Strong technical skills related to CADD standards and automation.
  • Ability to prepare electronic drawing files within project standards, using 3D modeling /surface models, sketches, layouts, project instructions and notes.
  • Familiar with discipline specific data collection for internal use in estimating, specific to take-off reports.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of advanced drafting practices and be familiar with CADD principles (i.e., text placement and editing, layering, snap, precision input, etc).
  • Exposure to Bentley Microstation, ProjectWise, Openroads, Openrail etc would be an asset.
  • Exposure to Light and Heavy rail design would be an asset
  • Experience with multi-discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects
  • Experience with Design Build or Alternative Delivery projects would be an asset.
  • ASET Certification is an asset

The base salary range for this position is $79,700 to $104,625. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
