DEPARTMENT: PARKING SERVICES

This post attracts a welcome payment of 5% of the starting salary for the grade to enable individuals to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period and is subject to eligibility criteria.
At Bath & North East Somerset Council we are committed to protecting Bath as a place of international cultural significance, and UNESCO World Heritage Site, which contains all stages of the history of England, from the Roman Baths; to Bath Abbey; the Royal Crescent; and the Thermae Bath Spa.
Balancing the needs of residents, business and visitors to keep the city and surrounding market towns moving is therefore a unique challenge. You would be supporting our enforcement needs including effective deployment, training & development of and wellbeing of our Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs).
Parking Services is seeking an individual to help support the management and deployment of 30 CEOs, working with 4 other Senior CEOs across Bath & North East Somerset to provide an effective Parking Enforcement Service.
The post will cover shifts over an 8 week rota and you will be required to work from 7am and up to 10pm on occasion when operationally required.
The primary goal is to ensure Parking Enforcement activities are delivered to the highest possible standard with the focus on Enforcement Officers as ambassadors, providing a safe welcoming environment, with an emphasis on customer care, to support the local communities, and achieve the objectives of the Climate Emergency and our Parking Strategy.
To meet the requirements of this post you will need to be a strong team player, lead by example, build effective working relationships with internal and external bodies and have excellent organisational skills, along with the ability to communicate sensitively in challenging and emotive situations are also essential requirements to this role.
A sound understanding of parking legislation is also needed. We would offer training and support to assist with this.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
