Your Opportunity

As the Senior Client Services Librarian you will be responsible for:

  • Be responsible for the enhancement of vocational and further education and training through the provision of quality library services that support TAFE Queensland’s delivery plans and initiatives and contribute to the achievement of the Tafe Queensland Library Network (TQLN) Strategic Plan and its goals and objectives .
  • Supervise and Lead a dynamic, flexible and exciting team, consisting of multiple libraries across TAFE Queensland. The Senior Librarian will operate under one unified library service, leading a team of library staff and supervising operations so as to deliver quality education and training that enables the careers of our students and the development of the industries and communities we serve.

This position reports to the Manager, Library Client Services. This position supervises and lead Client Services Librarians, Senior Information Service Officers and library operations across TAFE Queensland Libraries
This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 28 October 2024 with the possibility of an extension.
The position will be based primarily at South Bank Campus however you will also be required to travel and work across other campuses in the Greater Brisbane region.
Partial Flexible work arrangements will be negotiable, subject to requirements to attend South Bank Campus 2-5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the transformation of cultural change by promoting and modelling the established values of Safety first, Working together, focusing on our customers, Showing initiative and Taking responsibility.
  • Develop and deliver a range of quality library services, management of staff resourcing, lead performance management, develop training outcomes, manage library operations and building maintenance in conjunction with the Manager, Client Services to ensure library sites operate with a focus on cost-effective, high quality customer service delivery and commitment to continuous improvement principles.
  • Train and develop library staff to provide a work environment that enables development of job competencies and achievement of professional goals assisting staff to adapt to change and promote a positive attitude to change.
  • Manage the leadership, implementation and performance of staffing resources, tasks and projects to ensure the continued improvement of library operations reviewing systems and processes within assigned library operations to provide flexible and responsive service delivery that meets client expectations.
  • Provide leadership to align delivery of library services to achieve Tafe Queensland Strategic outcomes and meet the goals of the TQLN Business Plan and ensure library operations adhere to the TAFE Queensland Product Governance Model.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, while meeting deadlines, budget parameters and successfully leading other library staff to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Lead and deliver continued success of TAFE Queensland through providing input into the library budget, manage team expenditure, participation in team activities, performance management processes, committees, professional development and training programs.
  • Lead the development of working relationships and effective liaison with external parties including Tafe Queensland stakeholders and other community groups and organisations to provide authoritative advice on matters relating to library trends, innovation, marketing and communication in library services.
  • Cultivate an understanding of the commercial aspects of TAFE Queensland including financial and business performance and any impact from external factors. Take a leadership role in the delivery of TAFE Queensland Library Network programs, promotions and marketing initiatives to ensure client awareness and usage of services and resources.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise individuals and teams to achieve excellent client service performance and meet TAFE Queensland Library Network goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current library and information services and e-resources as they relate to the learning needs of students and teachers in vocational education.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, follow guidelines and procedures, delegate, prioritise and plan workflow to achieve outcomes within identified timeframes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and public relations skills, including flexibility, responsiveness, initiative, and the ability to consult and negotiate with a wide range of clientele.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects of significant size and complexity, including the preparation and management of project plans and resources.

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • Possession of appropriate tertiary qualifications providing eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in leading high level library operations including skills in supervising staff and leading project management.
