Description:

NHFT have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding perinatal psychology pathway. NHFT has an established award-winning Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service which has expanded in line with the Long Term Plan for Mental Health.
We are looking for a Senior Clinical Psychologist/ Applied Psychologist who has skills, experience and interest in working with women/birthing people experiencing perinatal mental health conditions including post-natal depression, post-partum psychosis and maternal OCD. This is a multi-disciplinary service with lots of opportunities for joint working and service development. Psychological interventions are provided on both a group and 1.1 basis and include compassion focused therapy, CBT, EMDR and IPT. Both remote and face-to-face interventions are available.
The service was selected as one of 10 Early Implementer sites to deliver a Maternal Mental Health Service (MMHS) which is a psychology lead provision. This service has now been running for almost 3 years alongside the SPMHS.
The postholder for this position will fulfil the following role:
Senior Clinical Psychologist/ Applied Psychologist
To provide a specialist perinatal psychological intervention to women experiencing or at risk of experiencing moderate to severe mental health conditions in the perinatal period.
To provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on women’s’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams’ policies and procedures.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
The post-holder will help with for the identifying gaps in the service and assisting with service improvement and developing pathways of care to meet the service needs in line with National and Local strategies and evidence-based best practice.
There are a significant number of psychologists employed within the Trust working across different specialties and there are excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. The Trust has good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses.

The postholder will hold a clinical caseload including complex cases, support clinical staff through training and clinical practice, provide clinical supervision and line management to band 7 colleagues, be responsible for leading on an area of service development and contributing to the management and operations of psychological interventions within the SPMHS. The postholder will support the psychology management team and develop clinical expertise in perinatal psychology.
The postholder will provide advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues; will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Trust and Service’s policies and procedures. The postholder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the service.
