Description:

ABOUT US

StudySmarter is a leading EdTech startup from Munich, which digitizes the complete learning process of students and pupils with its smart learning platform. We have not only been awarded as the best learning app worldwide, but have also been able to actually support more than 10 million users in their learning experience.
Our vision is, to support everyone in achieving their own educational goals with cutting-edge technology

Responsibilities:

CLOUD ENGINEER ROLE AT STUDYSMARTER

Do you also believe that education is the best way to transform our world for the better?
For our Product Development department we’re looking for a cloud engineer. StudySmarter has been around for six years, and is a profitable Munich-based education technology scale-up. We’re remote-first (but offer hybrid to those who want it), and we believe strongly in our culture of trust, collaboration, and transparency.
As a cloud engineer at StudySmarter, you’ll be working within the broader Engineering team. You’ll be the first hire of a team we’re building, splitting off responsibilities currently encapsulated in other teams. You’ll be working closely with technical leaders across our disciplines, who will back you up, together with our VP of Engineering. You may be the first, but you won’t be alone.

THE ROLE

As to what you’ll be doing, naturally some cloud maintenance and development. But you could also be working with product development teams, helping them realise our features of tomorrow. Perhaps you’ll be improving our observability landscape, or brainstorming with colleagues how to up our security and compliance frameworks. We don’t have to tell you there’s a lot to being a cloud engineer, so we aim to leave room for your own initiative as well. Do keep in mind that roles such as these tend to include some emergency response activities.

For this role, it helps if you bring the following to the table:

  • Cloud expertise, mainly AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, possibly others
  • Supporting content management systems, i.e. WordPress, possibly others
  • WebAPI, development expertise is most welcome (we use Python/Django)
  • SDPL management experience (Gitlab preferred)
  • An understanding of compliance constraints
  • You solidly appreciate the scout principle, always leaving our environment better than we found it
  • A strong desire to learn, grow, and develop yoursel
