Senior Coder \Remote - Most states eligible\
Applies ICD-10/CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes to medical records based on documentation provided by physicians. Adheres to strict federal coding rules and guidelines in selecting codes that appropriately reflect the condition, which the patient had, severity of illness and the care that was provided. Abstracts clinical and statistical information for outcome measure and monitoring. Balances need for (95% or greater) coding accuracy against timely account completion for billing deadlines. Serves as a lead role by assisting Assists other areas in the hospital in the review, corrections, and rebills of coded accounts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s Degree Health Information Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Coursework/Training AHIMA certified coding program.
• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders Or
• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association Or
• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association Or
• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association Or
• Upon hire: National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association Or
• Upon hire: National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association Or
• Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association Or
• Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association
• 5 years CPT and/or ICD-10-CM/PCS acute care hospital coding experience.
• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree Health Information Management.
