What we’re looking for:
Nexamp is growing their Commissioning team and seeking to hire a Senior Commissioning Engineer to provide technical support during project commissioning for Nexamp’s portfolio of commercial and utility scale photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems. You will provide remote support and occasional field support for DAS, inverter, BESS and SCADA commissioning as well as witness tests. You will work closely with Nexamp Engineering, Deployment, Grid Integration (GRIT), Supply Chain and O&M teams.
You will be hybrid out of either of Boston, MA or Chicago, IL office. You will report directly to the Manager, Commissioning.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING: (ADDING IN REQUIRED SKILLS AND NEXAMP COMPETENCIES)

  • Engineering Degree from accredited University, College
  • 2-4 years of experience commissioning/ troubleshooting in electrical power systems, network design or equivalent
  • Previous experience in scheduling multiple outside parties
  • Familiarity with SEL relay settings
  • Knowledge of inverter parameter setting procedures
  • 1-2 years working in solar or storage in a technical role preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical principles preferred
  • Prior experience with solar and/or BESS commissioning preferred
  • MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to Nexamp Engineering, Deployment, GRIT and O&M departments during project commissioning for Nexamp’s portfolio of DG and utility scale PV projects.
  • Manage project commissioning schedules with Deployment, SCADA and GRIT based on key project milestones.
  • Coordinate inverter, DAS, SCADA, BESS and contractor site commissioning.
  • Assist, mentor, and train junior commissioning engineers and field technicians to increase their capabilities.
  • Provide remote support and occasional field support for DAS, inverter, BESS and SCADA commissioning as well as witness tests.
  • Review construction drawings for conformance with Nexamp standards and project requirements on SCADA and network design.
  • Provide technical support to the Supply Chain team by reviewing and providing commentary on DAS & SCADA component and enclosure quotes.
  • Deliver safe projects ready to be energized through the project commissioning process to Nexamp’s GRIT and O&M teams with a focus on project uptime post-commissioning and energization.
  • Review and validate site performance of assets once live, including managing or executing performance testing and identifying and troubleshooting underperformance.
  • Develop expertise in the industry standards around SCADA and network design and best practices.
  • Support research on continuous improvements to products specified and networking + commissioning best practices.
  • Interact with a variety of engineering disciplines including electrical, design, & GRIT.
  • Travel up to 20%.
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or directed.
