SANBI OFFERS BASIC ANNUAL SALARY OF R376 413.00

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to manage the team of information officers and ticket control staff, to provide information and customer service to Kirstenbosch visitors, to manage all garden guides, to organise guided tours of Kirstenbosch for guests of SANBI.
This position requires a degree in Communication Management, Event and Tourism Management, or equivalent qualification with NQF 7. A postgraduate degree or equivalent degree at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This post also requires 4 years’ of relevant work experience.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: Ability to work under pressure, Good communication and interpersonal relations skills; Project management experience; Extensive experience in public relations; Sound knowledge of the South African tourism industry; Exposure to and/or experience in events, tourism and business environment; Artistic inclination (appreciation for the arts and the ability to make judgements on which artistic projects to pursue; ability to make judgements around graphic designs, etc) and in possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience.

Key Performance Responsibilities include:

• Provide professional assistance in communications, media and public relations services;
• Coordinate tour guides;
• Supervise garden and tourism related information;
• Provide induction training;
• Train shuttle car drivers/ guide; and
• Provide Information for filming of documentaries.
