Description:

Responsible for the design, development, administration and communication of compensation programs for Yale-New Haven Health System. Responsible for salary administration, incentives, market analysis, policies and procedures. Assists with compensation matters related to Physician Compensation as needed. Advises, consults, and partners with divisional leadership on issues related to compensation. Advises YNHHS affiliates on compensation matters.

1. Designs and develops salary increase programs, including merit increase grids, salary range structures, salary administration guidelines and related procedures.
2. Develops and implements communication of compensation programs to management and employees, including annual compensation programs and the Performance Incentive Program (PIP).
3. Advises all levels of management on compensation administration, including salary increases, policy interpretation, career ladder development, market adjustments, equity adjustments, incentives, recognition programs and organizational structures.
4. Reviews and gives final approval to management authorized equity, market and promotion/career adjustments to ensure conformance with established guidelines and policies.
5. Conducts analyses of compensation proposals, recommends appropriate action and collaborates with Finance to enhance compliance with the budgetary process.
6. Designs, coordinates and participates in salary surveys and analyzes results to determine organization’s market relationship and to develop salary range structures, market adjustments, hiring guidelines and annual salary increase budgets.
7. Evaluates and classifies a variety of non-exempt and exempt positions, spanning a diverse range of job families.
8. Participates in the design of organizational and departmental goals for the Performance Incentive Program (PIP) from plan design to pay out of awards.
9. Reviews proposals for new or revised organizations to determine classification assignments and optimal organization structure. Makes recommendations to management to ensure organizational structures are appropriately designed.
10. Participates in management meetings to provide interpretation of compensation programs, to provide guidance on specific compensation issues and to consult on a variety of HR issues.
11. Participates as a member of various organization-wide teams and committees. Represents the Hospital in professional organizations, meetings and conferences.
12. Interprets federal and state regulations such as FLSA and ADA for applicability to compensation programs and policies and assures all compensation programs are in compliance with applicable regulations.
13. Performs research on various compensation issues and topics to ensure that organization is utilizing compensation techniques and programs appropriate for each culture and business.
14. Assists in the review of physician compensation arrangements, including ensuring arrangements are within Fair Market Value guidelines. Coordinates with internal and external resources as needed to address physician compensation related issues.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or related field. Certification in the compensation field desirable.
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) to seven (7) years experience in Compensation design, implementation and administration. Experience with Physician Compensation is highly desirable.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Analytical and quantitative skills in developing compensation design proposals and associated budget projections. Excellent oral and written communication, planning, organizational, project management and analytical skills. Must be proficient in spread sheets and database management and reporting creation. Ability to interpret complex material from various sources including government regulations.
