The NDIS Commission is an independent agency established to improve the quality and safety
of NDIS supports and services.

We are working with NDIS participants, service providers, workers and the community to so
participants can access services and supports that promote choice, control and dignity.

WHAT WE DO?

The NDIS Commission is the national regulatory authority responsible for upholding the rights
of people with disability accessing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We make
sure the supports and services participants use to live the life they want, are safe and offered
to the highest possible quality.
The NDIS Commission regulates NDIS providers and monitors compliance with the
NDIS Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards by assessing incidents that occur in the
provision of NDIS services, conducting investigations and undertaking compliance and
enforcement actions.
The NDIS Commission collaborates with state and territory governments, the National Disability
Insurance Agency and other Commonwealth regulatory bodies, such as the Australian
Competition and Consumer Commission, to share information and improve the quality and
safety of NDIS services.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The NDIS Commission’s Regulatory Operations Division is seeking highly motivated and
talented problem solvers to contribute to compliance activities that impact the regulatory
actions of the NDIS Commission. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to
regulatory actions that will ultimately have a positive impact on the lives of NDIS participants
across Australia. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive team that develops and
implements cutting-edge problem-solving methodologies to tackle complex challenges within
a regulation space. Successful candidates will join the Compliance Assessment Team within
the Regulatory Operations Division.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Our ideal candidate will have a positive, contemporary attitude to people with disability and

have the following capabilities:

  • Good understanding of contemporary regulatory practices and approaches and ability

to contribute to the preparation of regulatory policies and procedures for use by

operational staff.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of quality assurance activities in a regulatory

environment.

  • Sound written communication skills including the capacity to produce quality briefs,

reports, and correspondence of a complex nature and in plain language.

  • Sound oral communication skills with the ability to effectively work with a range of

internal and external stakeholders.

  • The ability and confidence, to make decisions using good judgement and knowledge,

based on thorough research, innovation and evidence-based practice.

  • Sound organisational skills including the capacity to manage competing demands and

to meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge, or the ability to quickly attain knowledge of

o the NDIS and an understanding of the role of the NDIS Commission.

EMPLOYMENT SUITABILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Provide leadership and direction to junior staff who prioritise and assess allegations of
non-compliance and other information.
2. Identify emerging trends and common issues and contribute to developing compliance
plans.
3. Engage across the full range of the NDIS Commission’s functions, identifying and
fostering opportunities to deploy cross-functional strategies to address compliance
issues.
4. Prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation,
including reports, briefings and submissions.

5. Contribute to and participate in compliance promotion and education campaigns to
inform and educate providers, participants and the public about the Commission’s
functions and the requirements of relevant legislation and rules.
6. Provide compliance and enforcement advice to stakeholders.
7. When necessary, prioritise and assess allegations of non-compliance and other
information of a complex nature.
8. Research and analyse issues and allocate appropriate matters to a compliance or
investigations officer for their action.
9. Accurately maintain and update records in Commission databases and case
management systems
10. Support compliance officers and investigators to conduct compliance activities and
investigations.
11. Undertake a range of general administrative duties
12. Actively participate in an environment where learning and information sharing is
encouraged.
13. Other duties as required.
