Description:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Degree in law or at least 10 years of professional experience as a compliance officer, compliance manager
- In-depth knowledge of industry- and sector-specific legal regulations and standards, such as commercial and business law, money laundering, antitrust law, sanctions etc.
- Experience in developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and systems.
- Experience in conducting compliance audits, controls, and training.
- High ethical standards, integrity and a sense of responsibility
TECHNICAL / FUNCTIONAL / LEADERSHIP SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Confident handling of Microsoft365, databases and compliance software
- High ability to work in a team and empathy
- Resilience and appetite to work in a very volatile and fast changing compliance environment, externally and internally
- Ability to balance needs and expectations of various stakeholders in the end market and above

Responsibilities:
ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced lawyer or compliance manager (10 years and more relevant professional experience) to lead the compliance agenda for the German end market. In addition, the role supports the Area Head of Legal in the strategic management and in-depth advice of the Central Europe Area “CE Area” (consisting of the markets of Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria and Switzerland) regarding higher-level compliance and cross-border issues.
The role is an integral part of the German Legal Team and reports directly to the Head of Legal Germany.
WHAT ARE THE KEY OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTATIONS FROM THIS ROLE?
- Creation of compliance risk profiles and resulting measures, e.g. training plans
- Create and update compliance policies and procedures (including based on the Centre’s guidelines) that align with legal requirements in EU, Germany and global corporate values
- Monitor and assess compliance performance and risk areas across the organization
- Plan and conduct internal compliance audits and controls to identify and address violations or vulnerabilities
- Advising and training managers and employees on compliance issues, such as sanctions, anti-corruption, code of conduct, etc.
- Preparation and presentation of compliance reports and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders
- Communicate and cooperate with external regulators, external law firms, etc.
- Investigate and address compliance complaints, violations, or incidents and take appropriate corrective or disciplinary action
- Leadership of the data protection manager
- Personnel management of currently 1-2 Direct Reports
- Act as a role model for the BAT values

As a Senior Compliance Manager, you will support our company in ensuring compliance with legal and internal regulations. You will work closely with management, finance and external regulators.
