- ️ About Amber
Amber is a technology company and an electricity retailer. We are a new way to buy power, designed for a world powered by renewable energy. We give customers direct access to the real-time wholesale electricity price as it varies and the technology to shift more of their energy usage to the times when cheaper renewables are available in the grid. It’s a cheaper way to buy power and the fastest way for Australia to reach 100% renewable energy.
We are growing rapidly and have thousands of customers who love what we are doing and a great product that will play a significant role in driving Australia towards a renewable future. We are backed by Australia’s leading VCs (including Square Peg Capital and Main Sequence Ventures), impact-focused investors and individuals, Commonwealth Bank and NRMA.
We’re on our way to taking the business to real scale as we disrupt a huge market for the better. You’d be a part of a team of over 100, with expertise across energy, technology, marketing, and operations. We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and a great culture of people who love coming to work to build a better world.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Looking for a job at a purpose driven start up? Amber is looking to hire a Senior Compliance Specialist!
You will be working within our Operations team to help deliver and maintain best-practice compliance practices as Amber grows. You’ll apply your knowledge of the regulatory framework for electricity retailers to make sure our customer-facing and internal processes are both compliant and fit-for-purpose for Amber as a market-leading technology company (and not your typical energy retailer). You’ll enjoy analysing and diving into detailed processes to identify and apply improvements, working alongside our Accounts & Compliance Manager and Legal Counsel where required.
\UD83D\UDD0BCOMPLIANCE SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ownership of the Amber Operations compliance function: you’ll have responsibility for ensuring our customer support and internal processes are compliant with energy regulations, working with other Operations team members
- Periodic review of systems, policies and guidelines to look for improvements and ensure ongoing compliance. Apply scalable solutions to our compliance processes to improve customer experience and reduce business costs
- Responsibility for BAU compliance: prepare regulatory reports throughout the year and responses to ad hoc queries from regulators, escalation point for complaint and Ombudsman case management, guidance to Operations teams on managing vulnerable customers (eg financial hardship and/or family and domestic violence)
- Champion a compliance-centric culture within the organisation
- As an integral member of the Amber Operations team, you would also have the opportunity to contribute to general customer service and BAU tasks, where there’s capacity and a business need to do so
