The Advanced Concepts team shapes, surprises and engineers delight into the future guest experience through advanced innovation principles. We go beyond classic research and development methodologies into the realm of possibility for both body and mind within all the places that our guests & lululemon choose to play together. We need you to bring to life the capabilities of our state-of-the-art Workshop facility through utilization of our unique research, design, and technology insights. You will work as part of a lean innovation concept team and partner cross functionally with research and design to explore net new product functionality that deliver a new on-body experience.
a day in the life

The Senior Concept Creator (Couturier), Advanced Concepts is a problem solver and connector who helps bring to life tangible innovations from ideation through to proof of concept (POC) via pattern making and construction engineering. You will partner with other concept creators, designers, researchers, and materials teams to understand the technology solves behind the ideas; translate your critical thinking and findings to build innovative patterns, constructions, fit, mock-ups, and physical concepts for testing and validation.

  • You will research new construction & fit, methods of make, technologies, and materials for the Advanced Concepts team to inform & shape the innovation of product.
  • You will support the concept creation process through initial technical pattern engineering/development, mock-ups and initial concept to demonstrate innovation and product intent.
  • Provide technical pattern engineering support in proto changes, challenges, and solutions to maintain innovation intent.
  • You will support in the creation of tech packs through pattern and construction engineering.
  • You will maintain data integrity through documentation.
  • You will organize daily workflow that adheres to Innovation deliverables & development timelines in partnership with Innovation Management.
  • Participate in fittings to support the concept creation process - identifying, adjusting, and correcting fit through pattern and construction engineering.
  • You will measure and review proto samples based on submitted technical pattern(s).
  • You will support leading fittings & presentations: Measure, evaluate fit sample (construction, execution), present pattern history, advise required pattern, construction and fit corrections discussed for assigned projects.
  • Analyze the outcome of fittings and construction reviews with cross functional and vendor partners.
  • You will provide technical support in pattern and fit changes, challenges, and constructions to maintain innovation intent.

qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree pattern engineering or equivalent professional experience; focused training in Pattern Making and Technical Development experience preferred
  • 8 + years minimum industry experience (preferably within the Pattern Engineering/Technical Design and/or Technical Development departments)
  • Expertise in Gerber Pattern Making and/or 3D software (CLO, Browzwear)
  • Proficiency in MS office (Excel/Word/Outlook), Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Proficiency and capability in hands-on prototyping
  • Experience working directly with Pattern Engineers (Internal and Overseas)
  • Lead fit sessions for all products • Knowledge of garment patterning, construction methods in multiple
  • Expert knowledge of grading
  • Expert knowledge of technical pattern making/engineering, garment construction, draping, fit, manufacturing process, and product categories.

Compensation and Benefits Package
lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $119,200-156,500 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.

This role is classified as hybrid under our SSC Workplace Policy: In-person collaboration is important, and much of the role can be performed remotely. Work is performed onsite at least 3 days per week.
