What you’ll be doing
As Sr. Consultant, Benefits Policy you will develop, design, and implement benefits strategies and programs for our employees and retirees in Canada; areas may include medical, dental, short-term and long-term disability, other insurance benefits (life and accident), among others. You will provide subject matter expertise as required to Executives, HR leaders and other stakeholders, both internal and external, on complex and conceptual issues to increase capability and understanding of benefits policy and offers. Using data and analytics you will help evaluate program and strategy effectiveness and drive insights to help advance CIBCs approach. You will establish strong relationships with 3rd party vendors to enable you to negotiate related contracts, manage performance, and ensure quality outcomes.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategy/Policy Development - Research emerging trends and best practices, maintain benefits knowledge, and ensure the design and development of CIBC’s offerings are consistent with our desired market competitive position. Leverage data from various sources to identify trends, track progress toward key performance indicators and program effectiveness.
  • Program Management - Manage complex and high impact projects through consultation with various business and functional groups, taking into consideration employee experience, risks, funding, and applicable laws and regulations. Identify and negotiate project resources (internal and external) to plan and prioritize work and ensure deliverables are met.
  • Program Promotion – Work both alone and in collaboration with Corporate Communications to develop and implement communication plans to support the roll-out of benefits initiatives, program changes, and enhance overall awareness and knowledge with impacted groups.
  • Vendor Management - Ensure we are getting best value from our suppliers by understanding their offering, reviewing regular reporting, negotiating and monitoring service level agreements to ensure compliance with all contracts, plan documents, regulations and laws.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in designing, delivering and managing employee benefits programs for a large employer and it’s an asset if you have 7 or more years of experience.
  • You look beyond the moment. You make decisions and take actions that will make a difference today and tomorrow. You proactively seek new opportunities to define what’s possible.
  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don’t. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
  • You’re driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to bring a shared vision to life.
