What you’ll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s Operations Service Governance team, you will be a subject matter expert and lead design and implementation of governance and oversight practice for Technology Operations processes and controls, including regulatory requirements, industry standards and third party risk management.
You will conduct regular touchpoints with stakeholders, including Executives, using a consultative approach to provide relevant governance updates, raise issues, and seek support as needed and will proactively contribute to governance initiatives, providing technical and controls advice, as well as insight on assurance processes.
You will be required to examine and interpret current controls against actual processes and practices, identify gaps, and lead remediation initiatives accordingly and monitor and report on control effectiveness risk and performance management for both internal and Third Party controls, and coordinate with 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defense. You will develop, customize or revise processes, tools and templates that can be leveraged to manage and govern in-scope controls and outsourcing relationships, and TO processes.

How you’ll succeed

  • Understanding of Technology/Regulatory/Third Party Controls and Risk - With a broad understanding of technology standards and processes and a subject matter expertise in risk and controls, you will be able to manage audit expectation, review/gain assurance and provide opinion on statutory/regulatory controls and obligations, leading continuous improvement of control health and Technology Operation’s risk posture.
  • Implementing Governance and Oversight - Support leadership in implementing effective management of a Governance mandate to implement strategies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards, working closely with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain robust control frameworks.
  • Analyzing Data - Demonstrate strong abilities around analyzing and understanding data, as well as gap analysis expertise.
  • Managing Communication - Demonstrate strong presentation and narration skills, keeping the audience in mind which will include technology and risk executives and subject matter experts
  • Leading and Mentoring – Support end-to-end controls implementation as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance to a diverse team of technology, controls and risk professionals. Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience with: 3-4+ years in a compliance role leading and maintaining programs with the ability to elicit requirements and write strong documentation. Excellent abilities to manage stakeholders and having strong communication skills is a must. You are proficient with Excel pivot tables, PowerPoint and other Microsoft office applications. You have strong problem solving skills, stakeholder management abilities, and exceptional organizational skills.
  • It’s an asset if you have COBIT / CISM / CGEIT certification.
