With over 150 practitioners globally, we have a track record in successfully addressing cutting-edge issues related to Science Based Targets (SBTs) and Net-Zero targets, and have deep connections and partnerships with NGOs and other standard-setting organizations that help shape the target-setting landscape. And we offer complementary advisory services that support our clients throughout their net zero journey, in such areas as carbon footprinting, carbon markets, renewable energy, climate risk and ESG strategy.
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Consultant to support our growing Net Zero Strategy service in North America. Your projects and clients may span a diverse set of industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands and start-ups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help develop detailed recommendation reports and other deliverables that support and inspire clients to take bold action on their pathway to Net- Zero
  • Analyze corporate footprints of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to identify emissions reduction levers, such as those involving behavioral change, infrastructure, fleet, operations, and finance
  • Assess the contribution of different reduction levers to SBTs and Net-Zero goals, and develop detailed implementation roadmaps
  • Conduct benchmarking and technical research
  • Support the development of proposals that demonstrate an understanding of the client’s business and creative scopes of work to achieve their goals
  • Provide technical direction to and mentor junior consultants
  • Attend client meetings, where necessary, for development of opportunities and project delivery
  • Support engagement with the global expert community across Anthesis to create new or revised service product offerings and delivery approaches that help Anthesis achieve its commercial and corporate climate goals
  • Support regular collaboration with other services in the Climate Resiliency & Decarbonization Practice and other Practices across the business to provide cohesive, strategic and value-added guidance to clients.

Key Requirements & Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 4+ years’ experience in corporate carbon management across multiple sectors, acquired either in-house or in a consultancy environment
  • Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience in corporate GHG accounting (scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions), quantitative modelling of reduction targets, and initiatives to achieve targets
  • Substantial experience in identifying emissions reduction levers and quantifying their contribution towards SBTs and/or Net-Zero targets, including both nature-based levers (e.g., forestry, marine, coastal) and technological levers (e.g., renewable energy, energy efficiency and alternative fuel vehicles)
  • Experience developing Marginal Abatement Cost Curves (MACCs) and in the financial (NPV) modelling of emissions reduction measures
  • Familiarity in developing operational and value chain GHG emissions reduction roadmaps and strategies that address cost, timeframe, governance and other strategic business considerations.
  • Demonstrated experience with external programs and criteria for developing GHG footprints and setting SBTs and Net-Zero Targets, especially GHG Protocol corporate and value-chain standards and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  • Rigorous thinking with deep analytical skills and ability to creatively problem-solve
  • Policy development and/or research experience in the low- and net-zero carbon arena

Personal Attributes and Qualities:

  • Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate technical expertise as well as solid understanding of the client’s business and needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication and consulting skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast moving and changing work environment.
