The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ $126,100 - $189,100 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. Education:

  • Electrical and/or Instrumentation trade background combined with a higher-level qualification in any one of the following disciplines; Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Process Control, Computer Sciences or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Significant experience developing and managing automation projects up to $10M USD.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in electrical/instrumentation and/or control projects in the mining industry.
  • Demonstrated history leading multi-discipline project teams.
  • Demonstrated history managing Safety and implementing Risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experienced in the development of project budgets, schedules and execution plans.
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with common Microsoft Office applications and also typical project management tools such as Microsoft Projects, AutoCAD (or equivalent), Navisworks, etc.

Skills:

  • Strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills across multiple organizational levels.
  • Capable of adapting to and effectively implementing change.
  • Able to develop complex scopes of work and manage consultants and contracted resources effectively.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THIS ROLE.

What will you be responsible for?
The “Senior Control System Projects Specialist” reports to the “Manager – Fixed Plant Control Systems Projects”. The incumbent will role develop and execute obsolescence mitigation projects and general upgrades, and to manage installation, commissioning, and handover.
Process Control Systems include; PLC, SCADA, DCS and Field Instrumentation. He/ She directly coordinates the implementation of Process Automation projects on Greenfield and Brownfield sites and assists and/or prepares AFEs, schedules and execution plans.

YOUR ROLE WILL CONSIST OF:

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Assist the Principal Control Systems Engineer and Manager – Fixed Plant Control Systems Projects to develop and execute global standardization and/or obsolescence mitigation projects.
  • Participate in the development of engineering design to resolve issues and obsolescence at existing brownfield PCS sites
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, track expenditures and prepare progress and performance reports (schedule slip, metrics/KPIs, compliance, quality, safety and environmental).
  • Manage project execution at the site by direct supervision and/or remote supervision by influence.
  • Schedule tasks and direct activities to achieve desired outcomes and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, consultants, and vendors as necessary
  • Develop installation and commissioning plans to support on-time handover and operational readiness
  • Identify execution and operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate threats to schedule.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Site teams, Value Assurance, Supply Chain, Contracts, IT, etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal partners to obtain commitments, maintain schedules, and comply with change management processes. (eg; region and site teams, maintenance and operations leads).
