PROFILE SUMMARY
Wesgroup is poised for substantial growth over the next several years and in preparation for this exciting and challenging phase, we are actively seeking a highly engaged, driven and experienced Senior Corporate Accountant to join our team.
Reporting to the Senior Corporate Accounting Manager, this role will enhance quarterly financial statements and support accounting processes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Demonstrate and embody the Wesgroup core values and align decision making that focuses on the goals of the corporate accounting team.
- Train and mentor team members, while providing growth opportunities and a collaborative team environment.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with and provide ongoing support to internal teams to achieve departmental objectives and organizational goals.
- Lead full-cycle accounting and reporting for multiple entities including period-end reporting and compilation of annual ASPE financial statements.
- Work with external auditors and assist with interim and year-end engagements.
- Take ownership of the corporate overhead budgeting process.
- Lead and oversee accounting and reporting for the Family Office
- Review and approve work of team members related to responsibility areas above and other tasks including journal entries, invoice processing, and GST reconciliations.
- Continuously search for departmental improvements and efficiencies and assist in the standardization, documentation, and improvements of processes and procedures.
- Research complex accounting issues and prepare memos, analyzing and making recommendations for changes or improvements.
- Assist in ad-hoc projects, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- 3 - 5 years of applicable experience preferably in real estate or related industry
- CPA designation or equivalent
- Experience using Yardi Voyager, an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced Excel skills
- Experience using Power BI, an asset
- Exceptional interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Good understanding of complex organizational structures and the flow of funds between entities
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
