OUR OPPORTUNITY:

Chewy is looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel – Employment Law to join our Legal Team based in Plantation, Florida. This position is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a fast-paced, dynamic Legal Department supporting all aspects of Chewy’s healthcare business with respect to employment and labor law. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day employment law advice and counseling to HR professionals and business managers regarding healthcare employees, including veterinary clinics, virtual pet care, corporate, and customer service employees. This position requires close collaboration with human resources and other business stakeholders, and the other attorneys in the Legal Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner directly with HR professionals and other business stakeholders to provide advice and counseling on multi-jurisdictional employment laws, including, but not limited to, wage/hour compliance; leaves of absence and accommodations; drug testing and background screenings; discrimination; and retaliation under both federal and applicable state/local regulations.
  • Advise HR professionals on emerging legislative and regulatory changes affecting employment and labor obligations in multi-jurisdictional operations
  • Review and revise internal policies and procedures to ensure multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and deliver proactive training to business leaders on a wide variety of employment law matters.
  • Supervise outside counsel with respect to employment litigation matters.
  • Provide legal representation and/or supervise outside counsel regarding government administrative agency charges, audits, and investigations (e.g., EEOC, DOL, OSHA and state/local agencies) as well as attorney demand letters and claims involving employment-related concerns.
  • Draft and negotiate employment-related documents including separation agreements and restrictive covenant agreements.
  • Partner with and support HR professionals regarding compensation, ERISA and immigration matters.
