Responsibilities:

The Senior Corporate Finance Analyst is a newly created opportunity in our Corporate Financial Control team based at our Perth CBD Offices.
The purpose of this role is to manage Synergy’s compliance with governance requirements relevant to wholesale energy trading encompassing electricity, gas, and environmental products. This role will also support treasury in managing Synergy’s liquidity needs, and insurance in ensuring insurance coverage across appropriate risk categories as required. This position will ensure Synergy has the capabilities, capacity and flexibility needed to achieve its Strategy in the face of increasingly volatile and changing markets.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage Synergy’s compliance with external obligations, including but not limited to the Renewable Energy Target liability and surrender process and any carbon reporting obligations. Successful execution and value-add of the renewable certificate strategy is key here.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate Finance and Business Service (FBS) compliance frameworks, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee compliance of energy trading with relevant rules, licences, delegations, policies, and standards; provide compliance advice on existing and emerging product offerings to stakeholders.
  • Understand and remain informed of regulatory changes, industry regulations to further identify new key risk areas to provide risk reviews, risk appetite and risk registers for FBS.
  • Support Treasury and Insurance functions / activities as required.
