QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance. CPA, or substantial progress towards achieving CPA certification, a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience in cost accounting
  • Start-up or high-growth company experience a plus; self-starter
  • Experience in manufacturing company a must
  • Highly desired if experience on product with a complex BOM
  • Netsuite a plus
  • Good with large sets of data and comfortable with analyzing inventory movements
  • Ability to effectively and proactively communicate with different levels and groups
    The Bay Area salary wage for this role is $105k-$140k + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position can be hybrid. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee.

Responsibilities:

Our finance group is looking for an analytical, self-motivated and result-oriented Senior Cost Accountant. Reporting to the Director, Finance Operations, you will own, define, and refine policies and processes for all things related to cost accounting. You will manage product cost globally, inventory management, and monthly financial close in accordance to US GAAP. We desire a problem solver to tackle continual process improvement and refinement. Support on understanding product cost from our contract manufacturer along with a complex supply chain is critical in this role.

  • Develop and maintain product costing policies, procedures, and controls for linear generators purchased from our contract manufacturer, including but not limited to tolling arrangements, consignment, or other inventoriable related costs.
  • Understand and perform regular cost reviews with business leaders for total product cost and how changes to spending impacts P&L.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop and maintain understanding on global inventory transactions and valuation, including E&O exposure.
  • Accurate and timely support for monthly close process for inventory, product cost, and parts utilization; prepare the necessary journal entries and ensure proper recording in the ERP.
  • Perform balance sheet recons and provide narratives on the P&L for inventory variances and factory related costs.
  • Maintain GAAP compliance and controls for cost accounting function.
  • Continual improvement and refinement of costing procedures and systems that align with the changing business.
  • Participate and support the financial audit process; includes driving annual physical inventory procedures as well as the gathering and explanation of supporting documentation.
  • Assist with special projects, as needed.
