ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone that has:
- An engineering / cost accounting degree with previous experience in a product cost engineering role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional senior stakeholders.
- Strong financial analysis skills including experience in Business Partnering, working in cross-functional environments, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and manage multiple priorities at the same time.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and be assertive.
- Cost Analysis and support Reporting of multiple projects across same Category
- Control of results in comparison to process and rules, to provide true financial status.
- Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Finance Teams to develop product cost proposals and plans for future cost reduction to achieve required product Cost and GM% targets.
- Demonstrable analytical ability gained in a previous engineering role or similar technical discipline.
- Very good understanding of BOMs and their creation.
- Experience of working with and influencing others outside of your immediate team.
- The ability to manage several projects at the same time.
Responsibilities:
You will:
- Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing and Finance to identify, review and report Product Cost performance for the New Product Innovation (NPI) portfolio.
- Work with New Product Innovation Teams (NPI) to understand design intent, assemblies and components which are required to build products.
- Advise the Engineering Team on BOM structure requirements and highlight missing data points.
- Review BOM structure changes and provide information on the Product Cost impact.
- Work with the Engineering Team to identify and agree relevant cost benchmarks within existing production or NPD components.
- Organise Cost Estimation workshops to identify Cost critical components.
- Create, manage and report Costed Bill of Materials changes (both Design structure and components cost fluctuation) on regular basis.
- Organise data driven Cost avoidance workshops, to optimise Product Cost.
- You will work closely with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Finance Teams, to review documents and evidence regarding cost reduction / avoidance opportunities.
- Evaluate engineering change releases to determine applicable component level changes base on each specific product’s BOM features and options.
- Provide reporting and analysis that shows product cost versus target cost and other benchmarks.
- Individual will be responsible for a group of Small, Medium and Large projects, with critical importance to the specific Business Unit. Working with Operations and Design Managers, you will also be responsible to lead preparation of Product Cost position improvement plans.
