Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
As our Senior Counsel, Brand Protection EMEIA, you’ll be responsible for all Intellectual Property enforcement matters throughout Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA), tackling IP risk across the region, acting on a proactive and strategic basis to identify infringers, assess risk, initiate and respond to potential infringement and counterfeit concerns. You will lead the implementation of Burberry’s enforcement strategy in the region, manage a great team and collaborate closely with the global Brand Protection team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing customs and criminal enforcement activities in EMEIA, liaising with law enforcement authorities and external counsel and providing instructions on matters
- Managing all civil enforcement matters in the region, from sending cease and desist letters, negotiating settlements and drafting settlement agreements through to litigation work and strategy
- Managing and engaging in online enforcement, including working with service providers, industry collaborations, enforcement authorities/groups and liaising/negotiating with online platforms
- Providing legal advice relating to and in support of the Burberry’s anti-counterfeiting and brand protection activities
- Understand the shifting counterfeit marketplace and continue to evolve and implement the enforcement strategy in response to changing business needs, resources and relevant trends
- Lead and develop the EMEIA Brand Protection team to ensure high performance across enforcement activities across the region
- Partner with business stakeholders on education and training across brand protection, supporting the implementation of business strategies and managing risk
- Working collaboratively with global brand protection team to align on enforcement efforts and share understanding of global IP issues
