SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Tertiary degree in information technology, computer science, computer systems engineering, or equivalent Health Information Management experience.
  • Proficiency in dashboard and report development using MS Power BI and SharePoint, showcasing substantial experience in analysis, problem-solving, and solution recommendation.
  • Over three years of relevant industry experience using Microsoft SQL Server for data analysis and reporting.
  • Preferably, a background in working within an ICT or analytics department and/or a complex healthcare environment.
  • Experience in Health Sector partnerships is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport across organisational departments.
  • Team-focused mindset with a proven ability to collaborate and develop innovative solutions to organisational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE:

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive background in Business Intelligence (BI) development, demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server technologies and data visualisation tools tailored for reporting purposes. The Senior Data Analyst will collaborate closely with peers and stakeholders, contributing to problem analysis and resolution, fostering innovation in BI reporting, and supporting routine business activities. This pivotal role will actively contribute to the development of new reports, BI dashboards, and project analyses to meet clinical and corporate reporting requirements during a transformative period of IT infrastructure and information change.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Grampians Health’s Information Technology (IT) department is actively recruiting a highly skilled individual to assume the critical role of Senior Data Analyst within the Decision Support Unit (DSU). This position, central to our organization’s strategic objectives, will be dedicated to project-focused initiatives, involving meticulous data analysis, findings presentation, and recommendation formulation to facilitate informed decision-making for designated projects. The immediate focus will be on the implementation of the Elective Surgery Reform Program.
This role will support the organisation’s clinical and corporate systems, providing day-to-day support and analysis, advice, dashboards, and reports, allowing stakeholders to readily access information for operational and strategic decision-making.
Additionally, the position will prepare high-quality visualisations drawn from a number of validated data sources and ensure the results can be used for operational and strategic decision-making purposes, as well as mandatory organisational reporting requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement new mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Utilise PowerBI to develop and implement innovative dashboards and reporting initiatives.
  • Analyse data sets using BI tools, providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Play an integral role in amalgamating BI reporting across the Grampians Health region.
  • Collaborate with the broader IT team in implementing cutting-edge organisational technologies.
  • Support existing reporting requirements and innovate the redesign of BI reporting when necessary.
  • Contribute as a key member of the DSU, actively participating in the growth of a dynamic BI team.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with diverse staff and stakeholders across various disciplines.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive data analysis, findings, and recommendations to support decision-making within Elective Surgery Reform program working groups and steering committees.
  • Deliver demos and training sessions on project-specific dashboards and tools.
