We are currently seeking a Senior Data Analyst to work with our IT & Business Systems Team. We are starting the journey to deliver a centralised data platform for our analytics needs. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for transforming data into business insight and influencing data strategy and vision. You will work on a variety of data projects, ranging from data collection and cleaning to exploratory data analysis, to data visualization and reporting. You will collaborate with other teams and departments to understand their data needs and provide data-driven solutions. You will also be involved in maintaining and updating data pipelines, databases, and models to ensure data quality and reliability.
If you are passionate about data and want to be part of a change programme that enables data-driven decision making, this is the role for you. You will have the opportunity to work with the latest data technologies and tools, such as the Microsoft Fabric stack, and to be part of building a new data and analytics function from scratch. You will also have the autonomy to manage your own workload and goals, while being supported by a team of data experts.
Reporting into Business Systems Manager, this is a role which requires confidence, people skills and the ability to self-manage. It requires collaboration, attention to detail and analytical skills. Location is our office in Harwell Oxfordshire, flexible hybrid working is possible with 1 or 2 days a week required on site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in data analysis or a similar role.
  • Proficient in SQL and one or more programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning algorithms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience of working in greenfield data projects.
  • Experience working with the Microsoft Fabric stack & Databricks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident speaking to both business stakeholders and technical third-party contractors.
  • Familiar with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Capable of managing own workload and proactive in seeking out solutions.
  • Confident in communicating cross-team.
  • Working to ISO standards (Desirable).
  • Experience of any of MS Dynamics CRM, Planview, SAP (Desirable)

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and transform data from various sources using SQL, Python, R, or other tools.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and generate insights using descriptive and inferential statistics, data visualisation, and machine learning techniques.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Maintain and update data pipelines, databases, and models to ensure data quality and reliability.
