Description:
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
In order to be a successful applicant you will ideally have demonstrated experience working as a Senior Data Engineer within insurance, or another highly regulated environment(eg banking/government/super etc). You will also have:
- Software Engineering background with relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated knowledge in opensource data products.
- Deep technical experience in infrastructure design, build, and deployment, including private and public cloud, networking, storage, and virtualization.
- Expertise in delivering data and analytical services, covering data ingestion, transformation, storage, and reporting.
- Ability to tackle complex issues and provide practical solutions within limited timeframes.
- Strong communication skills, translating technical information into plain English for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
A client of ours is seeking Senior Data Engineer, who can take technical ownership of analytics platforms and environments, ensuring compliance with data standards, and delivering on documented customer requirements. This contract is initially through to EOFY ’24 with scope for extension.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining ETL processes, optimizing data delivery, and designing scalable infrastructure. You will also:
- Take technical responsibility for analytics platforms, ensuring compliance with data standards and customer requirements.
- Build solutions for data management projects, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, design requirements, and coding standards.
- Identify, design, and implement process improvements, automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes for extracting, transforming, and loading data into data warehouses.
- Monitor data pipelines and systems, troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly.
- Optimize data pipelines and databases for performance and scalability.
- Maintain detailed documentation of data engineering processes, data models, and configurations.
- Collaborate within a dynamic, fast-paced environment using Agile delivery methodologies.
