QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in related roles
  • Experience in Big Data ideally big raw or sensor data such as IQ, radar data, lidar or video
  • Expertise in data pipeline and workflow management tools
  • Experience in deploying machine learning models in a production environment desirable
  • Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and model training (MLOps)
  • Experience in designing and deploying self-hosted data infrastructure
  • Experienced with relational SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools like Dagster, DBTor similar
  • SQL experience is essential
  • Python expertise is essential
  • Experience with any of the following advantageous GoLang C/C++
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of mentoring junior engineers
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP) or RF telecommunications experience is non-essential but desirable
  • Prior experience with drones, hobby drones and rf emitter technology non-essential but advantageous

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Data Engineer you will be part of the Data Engineering team, enabling the Algorithms and AI Teams within DroneShield to improve our Detect and Defeat performance. As part of the Data Engineering team you will assist in maintaining and contributing to our data infrastructure. This empowers us to make informed decisions, address system gaps proactively, and ultimately deliver better solutions to our clients. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring the success and growth of our business in the ever-evolving field of drone technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Design and maintain robust, large-scale data processing systems, with a particular focus on embedded sensors as data sources
  • Implement and maintain database architectures, ensuring compatibility with business requirements.
  • Innovate by automating manual processes, enhancing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for scalability
  • Utilize advanced SQL and Python skills for complex data manipulation and pipeline development.
  • Develop tools to monitor and analyze performance metrics, driving optimization and improvement of product development
  • Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on technical challenges and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions that support business objectives
  • Lead the establishment of self-hosted data infrastructure, ensuring secure, efficient, and scalable data operations.
