Description:

American Auto Shield is seeking an experienced leader to join its Data Science and Analytics team. This position will be responsible for developing and executing the organization’s strategic use of data analytics, through data analyses, financial projections, analytical experimentation, identification of data sources and sets, and much more. This position will work closely with software development and infrastructure teams, as well as providing regular insight to business owners and senior leadership.

Responsibilities for Senior Data Scientist:

  • Build, refine and innovate large-scale data and analysis models
  • Implement analytical models by collaborating with software developers and infrastructure teams
  • Analyze data for trends and patterns, and interpret data with clear objectives in mind
  • Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine, and suggest new large structured and unstructured datasets and variables
  • Envision, design and execute analytical experiments to help solve problems and capitalize on opportunities

Requirements for Senior Data Scientist:

  • Masters degree (or equivalent) in statistics, applied mathematics, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in data science
  • 2+ years managing technical teams
  • Advanced experience with R or Python (R preferred)
  • Proven mastery with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
  • Advanced experience in pattern recognition and predictive modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, research-oriented group that has several concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and conclusions to senior business and financial stakeholders in a clear and understandable way
  • Demonstrated project management experience
