Description:

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE NEW BREED OF DATA SCIENTIST

As an experienced Senior Data Scientist, you are well versed in advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and data visualisation techniques, to create solutions that enable enhanced decision making and business performance.
As a part of the team, you collaboratively work with Account Service Leads, Tech program Leads, clients and other areas of the business, to understand the business problems and key decisions to be solved through insightful analytics. You will use the data science toolkit to identify trends, patterns and insights from raw data and extract meaning from data, uncover insights and identify opportunities to inform business decision making.
The CHEP data team is collaborative, and the successful candidate will work within a close-knit team, where members support each other to deliver first-class data services to our clients. The successful candidate will possess a blend of commercial acumen and technical data skills to be able to support our clients with their advanced analytics needs as a key member of the Data Science team.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, gather, analyse, and visualise information to create insights through analysis and modelling, disseminating these findings in clear and concise reports to clients.
  • Work with clients to understand their business needs and propose and lead data science solutions.
  • Lead the acquisition of additional data when required, to resolve specific business issues, enhance analytical capabilities, and inform decisions.
  • Effectively record, manage and store information and data for future reference and reporting.
  • Adhere to coding and knowledge sharing best practice, contributing to a cross skilled collaborative team.
  • Automate information delivery where appropriate to processes and people to increase speed of information and decision making, allowing action to be taken with certainty, and at a lower cost.
  • Build and contribute to a creative, forwards thinking analytics culture to drive best outcomes for clients.
  • Contribute to the growth of CHEP Networks AI capabilities, bringing fresh ideas to the table.

HOW WILL WE KNOW YOU ARE THE ONE

Capabilities

Proficiency in data science toolsets (SQL, Python etc.) and algorithms (regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modelling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.) to create analytical assets and monitor these for ongoing accuracy.

  • Experience across data environments and tools such as AWS (S3, Redshift etc.), Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery SQL, Big Query ML).
  • Proficient in at least one visualization tool (Tableau, Datarama, Looker etc.) to develop data insights.
  • Sound problem solving skills - ability to analyse and understand complex data problems and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy to provide business relevant insights and actionable models.
  • Ability to engage and workshop with diverse clients’ stakeholders, account services leads, tech program leads to deliver Data Science and Analytics solutions.
  • Strong consultative skills, with a proven ability to work well with others and communicate effectively and clearly.
